Manitoba

Manitoba has only 8 species of reptiles. It lacks some of the western species found in Alberta and Saskatchewan. Manitoba is the only province from BC to Ontario that does not have any rattlesnakes. As is common in many arid areas snakes outnumber other groups of reptiles.

         Common Snapping Turtle -- Chélydre Serpentine -- Chelydra serpentina

    Pond and Marsh Turtles
         Painted Turtle -- Tortue Peinte -- Chrysemys picta


Lizards
    Skinks
         Prairie Skink -- Scinque des Prairies -- Eumeces septentrionalis


Snakes
    Typical Snakes (Colubrids)
         Western Hognose Snake -- Couleuvre à Nez Retroussé -- Heterodon nasicus
         Smooth Green Snake -- Couleuvre Verte -- Opheodrys vernalis
         Redbelly Snake -- Couleuvre à Ventre Rouge -- Storeria occipitomaculata
         Plains Garter Snake -- Couleuvre des Plaines -- Thamnophis radix
         Common Garter Snake -- Couleuvre Rayée -- Thamnophis sirtalis
