Québec
Québec has 21 species of amphibians. Only Ontario has more native species.
Québec has 1 species of salamander (the Spring Salamander) that is found nowhere else
in Canada. The 2 Dusky Salamanders and the Spring Salamander are only found south of the
St. Lawrence. The greatest diversity of species is found in the southern portion of the
province. While 9 species range as far north as James Bay, only 3, the American Toad and the
Mink and Wood Frogs are found farther north. Most of the species found in Québec are
also found in Ontario and New Brunswick.
