Prince Edward Island

Prince Edward Island has only 9 species of amphibians. All species are found throughout the province, given the appropriate habitat. As an island, PEI is isolated from the mainland and therefore has fewer species of amphibians than the rest of the Maritime provinces. Most of the amphibians on PEI tend to be generalists, species that do not require specialized habitats. All of the species found in PEI are also found in Ontario, Québec and the Maritime mainland.
